For the Hannover pilot, two C-ITS services for prioritising local public transport are planned: the SI-Traffic Light Priority (SI-TLP) service, requesting prioritisation at traffic lights, and
the Green Light Optimal Speed Advisory (SI-GLOSA) service, which predicts the green phases of traffic signals and provides this information to drivers to ensure efficient and comfortable
driving.
The services are being tested in the Hanover pilot on two circular lines (Lines 100/200). The electric buses used here operate clockwise and counterclockwise around Hannover’s city center and are
to be equipped with C-ITS technology as part of the project. There are 41 traffic signals along the circular lines, which are to be modernised for the C-ITS services as part of the project. C-ITS
messages are transmitted via a direct information exchange (Dedicated Short-Range Communications, DSRC) between the vehicle and the infrastructure (Vehicle-to-Infrastructure, V2I) using V-ITS and
R-ITS stations.
