Kaiserslautern has already implemented an AI-controlled, environmentally sensitive, and network-adaptive traffic management system with an integrated multimodal traffic control
system.
Within C-Roads Germany – Phase 3, the system is being expanded westwards. The expansion primarily covers the industrial areas around Einsiedlerhof and Merkurstraße, where e. g. compliance with
emergency response times must be ensured.
Upgrading traffic signal systems with state-of-the-art C-ITS infrastructure (RSU, SPaT module) enables the introduction of numerous C-ITS services. By upgrading local public transport fleets and
municipal emergency vehicles, priority can be given to these vehicle groups. By equipping municipal service vehicles and implementing strategic detection, C-ITS will provide warnings about
dynamic obstacles in the future.
In cooperation with the Autobahn GmbH des Bundes, road users will receive driving recommendations for traffic disruptions already on the highway.
